Principal Biography
Jocelyn Sheppard has more than 20 years’ experience as a researcher and analyst, and more than 10 years’ experience in the field of technology transfer and commercialization.
While at the National Technology Transfer Center (NTTC), Dr. Sheppard designed and managed commercialization feasibility studies for new technologies belonging to commercial, federal, and academic clients. The NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) credited her reports for helping to secure the interest of potential investors and licensees in JPL technologies. Dr. Sheppard designed and presented workshops on technology transfer and commercialization for NASA Field Center and NTTC audiences.
Dr. Sheppard has also provided contract support to the US Army Biometrics Fusion Center (Clarksburg, WV), where she organized center-wide and functional area strategic planning; participated in policy formulation; and supported business process development, market research, documentation management, and training development.
As a project manager, Dr. Sheppard has worked closely with scientists and engineers to produce reports, white papers, and memoranda for non-technical audiences. Her writing and editorial experience includes the preparation of documentation for NASA, US Dept of Defense, and other government, business, and academic organizations.
As a Principal at Red House Consulting, Dr. Sheppard has managed project teams both on site and remotely. Commercialization feasibility studies, market studies, and included information collection, survey design, database design, website development, event planning, media outreach, proposal writing, and partnership development. She has completed these projects on time, on budget, and to the satisfaction of Red House Consulting clients.
Dr. Sheppard holds an M.L.S. and a Ph.D. in English from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She earned a BA in Comparative Literature from the University of Virginia.
