Women in Technology: A Formula for Success, October 16th-17th, 2014
Jocelyn Sheppard presented as a featured speaker at the third annual Women in Technology: A Formula for Success conference, hosted by TechConnect West Virginia. Held at the Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, West Virginia, the annual conference is designed to inspire women to enter STEM fields, and to support women researchers and technology entrepreneurs. Dr. Sheppard’s breakout session “Dread Monday Morning? Learn How to Reinvent Your Career” was targeted to anyone considering a pivot, a course change, or a second act. The session covered proven strategies for assessing whether you’re ready to make the move, identifying the skills and attitudes you’ll need to succeed, preparing in advance for the big move, and tapping into sources of support, encouragement, and constructive feedback.
Jocelyn Sheppard Presents “Beyond Google” Workshop at Washington County Chamber of Commerce, September 12th, 2013
Jocelyn Sheppard, Principal of Red House Consulting, presented the two-hour workshop “Beyond Google” as part of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce Seminar Series. Held on September 12th at Cambria Suites in Washington, the workshop covered free web-based business and industry information resources that can help small business owners stay current, generate leads, and make better business decisions. The seminar also covered identifying competing products and companies, locating business and industry experts, and finding information about regulations, industry trends, and market size.

Red House Consulting participated in many aspects of the 2013 AIIP Conference in Denver. Jocelyn Sheppard presented a pre-conference workshop titled “Make Your Best Pitch to Get What You Need!” offering practical exercises to enable participants to understand the key elements of a successful pitch. Dr. Sheppard also moderated the roundtable discussion “Maximize Your Marketing Savvy” during which participants shared marketing strategies and learned to leverage lessons learned by AIIP colleagues to maximize their own marketing savvy. Red House Consulting also gave back at the conference by matching cash donations to the Dress for Success program. Red House Consulting has finalized a contract to assist IntelligentSimulations LLC in the creation and marketing of an innovative new tool for medical training. The AI Patient, a dynamic web-based software platform, will employ cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence technology to provide an interactive and immersive training experience. The scalable system will enhance program efficiency and enable students to develop the interpersonal rapport-building skills needed to become successful medical professionals – all at their own computers and on their own schedules. Jocelyn Sheppard to Serve on Center for Energy Policy & Management Advisory Board, Beginning February 6th, 2013
Jocelyn Sheppard, Principal of Red House Consulting, was recently elected to the Advisory Board of the Washington & Jefferson College Center for Energy Policy & Management (CEPM). Dr. Sheppard will serve a three-year term beginning on February 6th, 2013. In addition to her extensive experience providing strategic planning, organizational assessment, business development, and project management services to organizations in the government, nonprofit, education, and commercial sectors, Dr. Sheppard has taught as an Adjunct Instructor at Washington & Jefferson College from 1990 to the present. Quorum Office Hours, November 29th, 2012
Jocelyn Sheppard hosted the November Quorum Office Hours session at the University City Science Center in Philadelphia. Quorumoffers a central gathering place on the City Science Center campus for entrepreneurs and other innovators to come together to network and share ideas and resources. Once a month, Quorum Office Hours brings in an expert advisor to meet with entrepreneurs and field questions. As November’s Office Hours host, Dr. Sheppard shared her strategic planning expertise and offered advice on developing business plans and proposals for start-ups in science and technology.
TransTech Energy Business Development Conference, November 14th-16th, 2012
Jocelyn Sheppard served as a judge and reviewer for the Business Concept Paper Competition at the first annual TransTech Energy Business Development Conference, held at the Waterfront Place Hotelin Morgantown, West Virginia. The two-day schedule included keynotes on starting and growing new energy businesses, Q&A periods, and pitch sessions with experts in the field.

Jocelyn Sheppard served as a coach and facilitator for StartUp Weekend Pittsburgh, a grassroots initiative designed to give small business innovators the tools and support they need to turn their business concepts into realities. Aspiring entrepreneurs were invited to pitch their ideas and receive feedback from expert coaches in their fields. Participants then competed in intensive all-day sessions to create successful business models for their projects.
